Event Venue

The Maryland Language Science Center is located in 2130 HJ Patterson Hall. HJ Patterson Hall (building #073 on campus maps) is on the north side of the main campus mall, and diagonally across from the Stamp Student Union on Campus Drive, adjacent to the new Edward St John Learning and Teaching Center. The main entrance faces St John.

Driving & Parking

There are two options for parking on campus: Regents Drive Garage and Union Lane Garage. Union Lane Garage is closer to the event venue, but since it is in the heart of campus, visitor parking may be full. Please allot extra time for driving and walking.

On Thursday, 10/25 - Both parking garages are free of charge starting at 4pm.

On Friday, 10/26 - If you are driving to the UMD campus for the conference activities on 10/26, you can pre-pay $15 for all-day parking. This option will save you from paying an hourly rate. A few days before the conference we will email you the instructions for pre-paid parking.

Regents Drive Garage

You can input this address into your GPS system for navigation to the Regents Drive Garage: 200 Regents Dr, College Park, MD 20742.

  1. From Baltimore Ave/Route 1, enter the campus through the main gates on Campus Drive.
  2. At the traffic circle, take the first exit onto Regents Drive and proceed straight.
  3. The Regents Drive Garage will be on your left at the intersection of Field House Drive and Regents Drive.
  4. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the event venue. Head south on Regents Drive and then turn right onto Campus Drive. HJ Patterson Hall will be on your left, just past St John Learning and Teaching Center.

Union Lane Garage

You can input this address into your GPS system for navigation to the Union Lane Garage: Union Lane Garage College Park, MD 20742.

  1. From Baltimore Ave/Route 1, enter the campus through the main gates on Campus Drive.
  2. At the traffic circle, go straight (i.e. take the 2nd exit) and continue up the hill on Campus Drive.
  3. Continue past the Stamp Student Union (on your right).
  4. Take the first right turn onto Union Lane and immediately turn left into the garage.
  5. It takes about 5 minutes to walk to the event venue. Head south on Union Lane and then turn left on Campus Drive. HJ Patterson Hall will be on your right, just past the Stamp Student Union.

Metrorail from Washington, DC

You can plan your metro trip from DC using this tool. Be sure to type "College Park - U of MD" as your destination.

  1. Take the Red Line train (toward Glenmont); transfer at the Fort Totten station to the Green Line train (toward Greenbelt); get off at the College Park/U of MD station.
  2. Or take the Green Line train (toward Greenbelt); get off at the College Park/U of MD station.
  3. The university's Shuttle-UM buses pick up university-bound passengers on the EAST side of the Metrorail station. Shuttle-UM service between the College Park Station (Green line) and the center of campus is very frequent (every 8 minutes peak hours most weekdays), is offered year-round, and is open to everyone - no ID required.
  4. Get off the Shuttle-UM at the "Stamp Student Union" stop. Cross street and walk east toward HJ Patterson Hall.

If you are coming by train, the Union Station metro stop is in the same building as the train stop. Follow the above instructions for riding the red and green lines to College Park.
